About
This is a 2-mile journey downriver with transportation back upriver to Camp Hi. The river passes through woodlands and has a gentle current with average depths of two to four feet. This is a perfect introduction to the Upper Cuyahoga River for those who wish only an hour on the water.
Highlights
Put in just below the Camp Hi Dam. This dam was constructed in the 1930's to create a waterfront for Camp Hi summer campers to enjoy. Aeration caused the dam helps maintain a high diversity of important water dwellers! The City of Akron owns all of the property on river right from put-in to take-out. Their ownership helps to protect water quality in the Upper Cuyahoga River watershed. There are one or two possible picnic spots on river right. Look for an old United States Geological Society (USGS) river gauging station near the end of your trip. Take out on river right just up-river of the SR82 bridge about 1/8 mile past this landmark.
From put in to take out, all river bank and river bottom on river left is private property. Please respect the rights of our neighbors and do not trespass.
