The Sail 4th 250: International Class B Parade
Front-Row Seats to History: The International Tall Ships Parade!
About
While the world waits for the 4th, the real maritime enthusiasts know that July 3rd is the day to see the fleet in motion. Join the Keyport Princess for an exclusive daylight cruise to witness the Class B Parade of Sail.
This is your chance to see 25+ international tall ships—the agile, traditionally rigged "working" vessels of the world—sailing down the East River and gathering in the harbor. With the Manhattan skyline as the backdrop, this is a photographer’s dream and a perfect way to kick off the Sestercentennial weekend.
What to Expect & Bring Front-Row Sightseeing: Unlike the crowded shorelines, the Keyport Princess offers a 360-degree view of the ships as they move through the harbor.
Sun & Shade: It’s a daytime trip! We recommend sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. Even with the harbor breeze, the July sun is strong.
Food & Drink: Pack a lunch and snacks for the afternoon! As always, Alcohol is allowed, but we have a Strict No-Glass Policy. Please bring cans or plastic containers only.
Stay Comfortable: Many guests like to bring cushions or blankets for the deck seating. We want you to relax and enjoy the "slow sail" pace of the afternoon.
Binoculars & Cameras: You'll want these! You'll be seeing ships from over 20 different nations up close.
Highlights
The "Opening Act" of the 250th: Be among the first to welcome the global fleet. This "Class B" parade features over 25 traditionally rigged tall ships—vessels that represent the heritage and craftsmanship of over 20 different nations.
The East River Descent: Watch as these agile sailing ships navigate the iconic East River, passing under the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg Bridges. Seeing these historic masts set against the modern glass of the New York skyline is a view you can only get from the water.
The Gathering of Nations: As the ships reach their anchorages near the Statue of Liberty and Gravesend Bay, you’ll see them drop anchor and prepare for the main holiday. It’s a peaceful, awe-inspiring sight to see the harbor transformed into a forest of masts.
A Relaxed Daylight Cruise: Unlike the high-energy night trips, the July 3rd cruise is all about the scenery. It’s the perfect afternoon to sit back with a cold drink, enjoy the harbor breeze, and take in the historic naval vessels and tall ships before the massive crowds arrive on the 4th.
