Where is camp?

Camp takes place on the south end of Sea Bright at two different locations depending on the weeks.

Camper drop-off is encouraged as parking is extremely limited. If you need to park, please allot time to find parking and walk from the nearby public parking lot. The larger public lot is at 1097 Ocean Ave, Sea Bright. Parking fees are in effect starting Memorial Day.

Beach Access

Only our surf clients may access the beach without paying the beach access fee. All spectators must pay the beach access fee. If you plan on using the beach before or after your camp session, you must pay the access fee.

ABOUT OUR CAMP

Our Kids Surf Camp is available to students ages 8 - 15. Camp runs a total of three hours each day in which students will learn the fundamentals of surfing, as well as advanced techniques and skills for higher level surfers. As a result, these sessions are open to and cater to all levels of ability.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT CAMP

Each day emphasizes learning how to surf through hands-on instruction, skill development, and time in the water. Instructors teach core surfing techniques while promoting ocean safety, awareness, and respect for the environment. Camp activities also encourage teamwork and friendship, creating a positive, supportive experience both in and out of the water.

WHAT TO BRING TO SURF SCHOOL

To be fully prepared for the day, please bring your towel, sun screen, a change of clothes (if desired), a water bottle, and a snack.

BRINGING YOUR OWN GEAR

If you do not have your own gear, we will provide it for you. This includes wetsuits, leashes, and surfboards. If you prefer to bring your own board, it must be discussed and approved by the surf instructors.

OUR INSTRUCTORS AND RATIO

All instructors are experienced surfers that have a passion for teaching and coaching. All instructors are certified in CPR and First Aid or are trained lifeguards. All instructors undergo extensive training through Lucky Dog Surf School and are well versed in all surfing conditions. We always keep Student to Instructor Ratios of 3:1 or BETTER!

INCLEMENT WEATHER/CONDITIONS

If we find that the surf is too big, and conditions are deemed unsafe to surf, surf school will be cancelled for that particular day. Surf sessions will remain open in the event of rain; however, if it is thundering or lightning, we will be closed and students may make up that particular day. We will be sure to contact you by phone in the event of a cancellation. We do not offer refunds or makeups for partially completed camp days.

MAKEUPS FOR CANCELLED CAMP DAYS

In the event of a week that experiences a cancellation due to unfavorable waves, weather or conditions outside of our control, we will offer a makeup day during any camp week that is AVAILABLE throughout the course of the summer. Lucky Dog Surf School does not offer refunds or credits for campers who do not use their camp makeup day(s).

FLAT SURF

If the surf is flat, surf school will remain open. No refunds or rescheduling will be permitted. Unfortunately, we do not have the luxury of perfect surf everyday. When the surf is flat, we focus on building essential surfing skills such as paddling strength, balance, and a variety of flat-water techniques that directly translate to improved surfing performance.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

Reservations for Lucky Dog Surf Camp are considered non-refundable except in the following circumstances:

TIMELY CANCELLATION REFUND

In the event of a timely cancellation (at least 45 days prior to the 1st day of registered camp), you will receive an 80% refund of the camp fee (excluding taxes and fees). However, if a cancellation is made less than 45 days prior to the 1st day of registered camp, the payment for camp is non-refundable. To cancel please email melissa@luckydogsurf.com and chris@luckydogsurf.com. All cancellations must be in writing.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Substitutions for children must be made at least 45 days prior to the first day of camp and will incur a $50 service fee. Substitutions are for full weeks only- you cannot “split” a week between multiple children or days per registration. If a camper is not on the roster he/she will not be permitted to attend camp.

SWAPPING WEEKS

Swapping camps week must be done at least 45 days prior to the first day of camp and will incur a $50 service fee. We cannot accommodate camp week swap outs less than 45 days before the 1st day of registered camp.

NO CREDITS OR ROLLOVERS

NO REFUNDS FOR UNFAVORABLE WAVES, WEATHER, OR CONDITIONS OUTSIDE OF OUR CONTROL
