Selma Mansion, built in 1794, was the home of Revolutionary War officer General Andrew Porter and his prominent family, which included influential political and military figures such as a Pennsylvania governor, a Michigan Territory governor, and a U.S. Secretary of War. Over generations, the estate passed through notable families including the Knox and Fornance families, each contributing to the property’s expansion and development. Architectural additions, including a grand portico and balcony, gave the mansion its distinctive historic appearance.
Following the deaths of Major Joseph Knox Fornance in 1965 and his wife Ruth in 1983, the mansion has remained largely unoccupied, adding to its atmosphere of decay and mystery. With its long history, ties to prominent figures, and extended periods of vacancy, Selma Mansion has become a compelling location for paranormal investigation, often associated with reports of lingering spirits and unexplained activity.
We have personally investigated this location ourselves and have had many interesting occurrences like footsteps on a staircase closed off to the public, intelligent response ITC equipment sessions, shadows and other paranormal related encounters.
