Are you a foodie? A history buff? Looking to learn something new while getting in your steps?
Chow Town Food Tours and Montclair History Center are joining forces to co-host this special Food Crawl and Historic Homes Tour that will leave you happy, full, and inspired. This all-inclusive adventure will tour the Upper Mountain Avenue section of Montclair.
Being offered ONE DAY ONLY! August 1, from 1pm - 4pm
Bring an appetite! We will have three delicious meals and take a journey through the history of Montclair, including:
- a killer griddle and breakfast destination
- classic Jersey pizza
- the James Howe House, a Revolutionary-era structure and monument to African American history
- more historic homes with little known and surprising stories that will forever change your view of this area, courtesy of the Montclair History Center
- and more!
Highlights
- we are so excited for our visit to the historic James Howe House, a new addition to the NJ Black Heritage Trail, where preservation experts will provide a private tour of the building and a tasting that is customized to the unique palette of the time period
- a diverse array of flavors and cuisines from across time periods, traditions, and cultures

We'll discover the history of homes and people who were a part of Montclair in the 19th and 20th centuries as we walk along North Mountain Avenue and Claremont Avenue. The tour will conclude at the start point at the MC Hotel.
Cancellation
Tours are rarely canceled, but in the unlikely event that this tour has to be rescheduled, you will be notified promptly and given the option to rebook with us. The rain date for this tour is July 25, 2025, at the same time.
