About

Step aboard the historic A.J. Meerwald, a 115-foot oyster schooner built in 1928, and experience life on the water as it was nearly a century ago.

This family-friendly educational sail offers hands-on opportunities for all ages. Guests are invited to participate in trawling, where we deploy a net into the bay, bring up the catch, and explore marine life with guidance from our crew. You may also help hoist the sails and assist with traditional sailing tasks.

Whether you choose to participate or simply relax, enjoy the fresh air, scenic views, and the unique experience of sailing aboard one of the last oyster schooners of its kind.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Delaware River and Bay Authority for their support. Special thanks to our Cape May Port Sponsors Whale’s Tale & Splash Gallery and Jason Vail Family Foundation.

If you’re visiting Washington Street Mall, be sure to stop by their shops: Whale’s Tale: 312 Washington Street Mall Splash Gallery: 512 Carpenter’s Lane
