About

Step aboard the historic A.J. Meerwald, a 115-foot oyster schooner built in 1928, and experience life on the water as it was nearly a century ago.

This historic afternoon sail offers hands-on opportunities such as trawling and sail hoisting, alongside a crew-led oral history exploring the story of the A.J. Meerwald and regional oystering traditions.

Whether you choose to participate or simply relax, enjoy the fresh air, scenic views, and the unique experience of sailing aboard one of the last oyster schooners of its kind.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Delaware River and Bay Authority for their support. Special thanks to our Cape May Port Sponsors Whale’s Tale & Splash Gallery and Jason Vail Family Foundation.
