Group size 49
Ages 12+

About

Youth ages 12 and up are invited to join the captain and crew of the historic A.J. Meerwald for a full day of sailing and adventure aboard New Jersey’s official tall ship.

This drop-off youth program gives participants the opportunity to “learn the ropes” and experience what it takes to be part of a working sailing crew. Throughout the day, participants will actively assist with sailing while learning seamanship, navigation, knot tying, marine science, teamwork, ecology of the Delaware Bay, and more.

Learn traditional sailing skills aboard a historic vessel Participate in hands-on crew activities throughout the day Explore marine science, ecology, and fish identification Build teamwork and confidence on the water

Participants will spend the majority of the day underway aboard the 1928 oyster schooner A.J. Meerwald, with guidance from the captain, crew, and education staff.

Please dress appropriately for all weather conditions and bring a packed lunch and refillable water bottle.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Delaware River and Bay Authority for their support.

Special thanks to The Whale’s Tale, Splash Gallery, and the Jason Vail Family Foundation for supporting youth education programs aboard the A.J. Meerwald.
