About
Come explore a beautiful Alaskan forest and get to know the ins and outs of the true outdoors of Interior Alaska. We will hike about 2-3 miles from our homestead into a boreal forest and meander through a grove of Birch, Quaking Aspen, and Spruce trees overlooking the Goldstream Valley. One of our traditional working Alaskan Gold Rush Huskies may accompany you on your walk with the guide for some added doggy fun! Your guide will point out the types of trees, plants and animal tracks. You might see moose, fox, birds and other small mammals indigenous to Alaska. They will teach you about our climate, permafrost and tundra and you may even find some berries along the way!
You will need to be physically able to walk or hike approximately 2-3 miles with minimal elevation gain.
This tour also includes a kennel tour at our small homestead with our small team of working traditional Gold Rush Alaskan Huskies. They are super friendly and love everyone who visits! Your guide is their pack leader and dog musher and will happily answer dog sledding questions or give a demonstration when conditions allow.
There will be bugs! There will likely be mud! Please wear waterproof boots or appropriate hiking shoes. Bug spray is highly suggested, and we will have thermacell devices for those that want to carry one for added bug defense.
Kids under 6 years of age can accompany an adult if they are able to walk or hike 3 miles, or a parent expects to carry them. The trail is not suitable for general strollers or wagons.
