About
Snowshoeing Forest Fun Walk
Duration & Suitability
30 minutes to 1.5 hours 1/4 mile - 1/2 mile easy walk suited to your ability. Ages 6 years and up. Children under 6 years are free. Children are allowed to accompany adults but not snowshoe unless they want to.
About
Come explore a beautiful Alaskan forest around our homestead. We will introduce you to snowshoeing which is a very relaxing Alaskan past time that allows you to walk through the forest with ease. Our 2 snowshoe paths are groomed and one is very flat while the other is slightly more challenging. They weave through birch, aspen and back spruce and around our property. You will see the dog yard from all aspects, and get to see our sheep that we keep for their wool to spin into yarn. Your guide will point out the types of trees, plants and animal tracks. You might see moose, fox, snowshoe hares, birds and other small mammals indigenous to Alaska.
For this activity you will be fitted with snowshoes by your guide, given the basics of how to walk in them and then start your adventure. You will need to be physically able to walk or hike approximately 1/4 mile with minimal elevation gain, and be comfortable outside in the cold for this activity.
Kids under 6 years of age and those less physically capable can follow along with your party or wait at the kennel in the warming tent.
