About the hike and what to expect

This trail begins with rolling terrain at the base of the Talkeetna Mountains. The first .75 mile climbs gradually uphill. The next mile is a climb. The true ascent starts after passing the second picnic table. Here, hikers can expect rooty, muddy, steep terrain moving forward. We’ll hike at a leisurely pace, climbing a total of 1500’ in elevation gain. There are no switchbacks on this trail, so hikers should be prepared for a steep and relentless climb. From Blueberry Knoll, expect stunning views of the Talkeetna and Chugach mountains. We recommend trekking poles and spikes for all seasons. If you need to borrow a pair, please let us know - we have lots of extra gear. We will descend the same trail to return to the parking lot.
