Alaska Glacier Hut: Backcountry Adventure (Aug. 31- Sept. 2)
2-nights at a remote Glacier Hut as our basecamp. All meals included!
About
What is the Alaska Glacier Hut? It's a remote hut in the Chugach Mountains. Think - luxurious public use cabin meets backcountry wilderness ๐
Getting to the hut requires a short bush flight from Glacier View. We'll land on a remote airstrip and trek up to the hut from here (about .25 miles).
Guests will be tent camping around the Glacier Hut, and we will be using the hut as our basecamp during the trip. We'll be able to enjoy the sauna, the outhouse, eat meals in the hut, etc.
What's the trip style?
This trip is kind of a 'choose your own adventure'. We'll have almost 3 full days to explore around the hut. Revel guides will offer activity options on the afternoon of day 1 and during day 2, but participants are also welcome to spend their time relaxing at the hut. A local chef will be cooking all our meals from the hut and we will eat as a team for each meal.
How the trip works:
- Our crew will meet in Palmer and travel to Meekin's Air Service the morning of August 31. Guests can also opt to meet us at the airstrip.
- From the airstrip, guides and guests will take a short flight out to the Glacier Hut.
- Upon arrival, the group will set up a tent camp in the vicinity of the Glacier Hut.
- Once camp is set up, we'll have lunch in the hut and then head out for an afternoon adventure (optional).
- We will stay 2-nights at the hut, returning via bush flight to the airstrip around noon on Sept. 2.
How the lodging works
- Participants will be tent camping around the Glacier Hut. We will be using the hut for our basecamp during the trip: eating meals, using the sauna, relaxing, etc.
