About the hike and what to expect:
We’ll be hiking at a leisurely pace for a little over 3-miles with about 1500’ of elevation gain. Blueberry Knoll, in Government Peak Recreation Area, offers stunning views of the Talkeetna and Chugach mountains. We'll start in the forest, meandering between local ski trails for about a mile before starting our ascent. The trail is steep in places, we recommend trekking poles if you have them. If you need to borrow a pair, please let us know - we have lots of extra gear. Our turnaround point will be about 1500’ from the trailhead.
This trail is a Mat-Su Borough trailhead. Participants are responsible for paying applicable parking fees if they do not have an annual Mat-Su Borough parking pass. Annual permits can easily be purchased online here or by visiting the Borough office in downtown Palmer.
Maximum group size of 10 hikers. Must be 12 years or older to participate unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
We ask folks to leave their 4-legged friends behind for this trip. Thanks for understanding.
