Trip Description:
- This route follows ridgelines from Hatcher Pass Summit (April Bowl) to the top of Government Peak to Government Peak Recreation Area.
- Terrain consists of exposed ridges that can be windy, with elevation gain of about 2,500 feet, followed by elevation loss of about 3,500 feet on a steep, well-established trail.
We’ll stay together as a group and hike at a leisurely pace. We will stop to identify plants, photograph the views, and take water/snack breaks as needed.

What to bring
- Comfortable walking/hiking shoes
- Comfortable attire (avoid cotton or denim, if possible)
- Trekking poles (highly recommended)
- Small backpack
- Additional layers (hat, gloves, jacket)
- Rain gear - If you have it, carrying both rain pants and a rain jacket is recommended
- Water (1-2 liters recommended)
- Snacks and/or lunch as desired
Cancellation
For day trips and community classes, cancellations made: More than one week before trip departure, receive a full refund minus a 5% processing fee. Less than one week before trip departure, receive no refund.
