Trip Description:
This route follows well-beaten paths through the Crevasse-Moraine trail system, around part of Long Lake, and ends at the Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area.
Terrain is predominantly rolling hills on dirt trails that weave through birch, spruce, and cottonwood forests.
We’ll stay together as a group and hike at a leisurely pace. We will stop to identify plants, photograph the views, and take water/snack breaks as needed.

What to bring
- Comfortable walking/hiking shoes
- Comfortable attire (avoid cotton or denim, if possible)
- Insect repellent
- Small backpack
- Additional layers (hat, gloves, jacket)
- Rain gear - If you have it, carrying both rain pants and a rain jacket is recommended
- Water (1-2 liters recommended)
- Snacks and/or lunch as desired
