About the hike and what to expect:
Just north of Peters Creek, Bear Point and Mt. Eklutna stand comfortably around 4,000 feet above sea level. We'll begin our hike from the Peters Creek Trailhead and start our climb on the western route. We will climb up to the top of Bear Point, a steep incline gaining about 1,800 feet in less than 2 miles. We’ll follow the ridge to Mt. Eklutna.
At this intersection, hikers will have the option to ascend Mount Eklutna (an additional mile up and mile down) or hang out and enjoy a tundra nap. The downhill is steep and straight with few switchbacks, so trekking poles are recommended.
Once at the base of Mount Eklutna, we descend about 1.3 miles through the forest as we return to the trailhead.
Maximum group size of 10 hikers. Must be 18 years or older to participate unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
We ask folks to leave their 4-legged friends behind for this trip. Thanks for understanding.
