This trip is built for anglers who are serious about chasing trophy halibut. By committing two or three full days on the water, we gain the flexibility to run farther, fish longer, and stay on productive grounds through multiple tide cycles—critical factors when targeting truly large fish. These extended expeditions allow us to focus on fewer spots and fish them thoroughly. We’re not racing the clock. Instead, we adjust our strategy based on conditions, tides, and bite patterns, dedicating maximum time to what matters most: hunting trophy-class halibut. Big halibut demand patience, proper gear, and teamwork. These fish hit hard, fight deep, and test both angler and crew. Our experienced captains and deckhands provide constant support—from baiting hooks to safely landing and handling large fish—so anglers can focus on the fight. When we’re not fishing, we anchor in protected waters to rest, refuel, and prepare for the next tide change. Long days, late bites, and early starts are all part of the experience. Seward Taxes
There is a 7% tax and a $3.50/person head tax.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
To ensure fair scheduling for all guests during Alaska’s short fishing season, Puffin Fishing Charters operates on a prepaid, guaranteed reservation system. Please review the following policy carefully before booking.
Payment Terms
• All remaining trip balances are due 30 days prior to your scheduled trip date.
• Reservations not paid in full by this deadline may be subject to cancellation.
Weather Cancellations
• If a trip is cancelled by Puffin Fishing Charters due to unsafe weather and the boat does not leave the dock, you will receive a 100% refund.
• Puffin Fishing Charters reserves the right to determine weather-related cancellations.
Mechanical Cancellations
• If a trip is cancelled due to mechanical issues, we will make every effort to place you on another vessel.
• If an alternative cannot be arranged, you will receive a full refund.
Guest-Initiated Cancellations
All cancellations must be submitted by email only to: puffincharters@sewardhg.com
Phone cancellations will not be accepted. Office staff will contact you once email received.
The cancellation date is based on when the email is received.
• 30 days or more prior to trip date:
o Refund of 90% of total reservation amount
o Includes a 10% processing fee
• Within 30 days of trip date:
o All payments are forfeited
o No refunds will be issued, however if the seats can be rebooked you will receive a 90% refund, less 10% processing fee
No Responsibility for Personal or Travel Issues
Puffin Fishing Charters cannot be responsible for:
• Cancelled or delayed flights
• Personal illness or injury
• Vehicle breakdowns
• Missed connections or other travel disruptions
For these reasons, we strongly recommend purchasing trip insurance.
Refund Processing & Fees
Please note:
• Credit card refunds incur merchant processing fees and administrative costs
• These costs are reflected in our cancellation fees and policies
Management Discretion
In certain circumstances, a gift card or reschedule option may be offered at management’s discretion in place of a refund. If this option is of interest, please request it at the time of cancellation.
