HALLO BAY/KATMAI BEAR VIEWING 2026
USE CODE: June10 for 10% off June dates - Available from May 15 - July 31st
About
At the base of Mt. Douglas along the Katmai coastline lies Hallo Bay, a stunning location where dozens of brown bears call home. Towering volcanoes, wide-open sedge meadows, sandy beaches and tidal flats create the perfect backdrop for a remote, unforgettable bear-viewing experience.
Your adventure begins with check-in at our Beluga Lake office, pending your scheduled check-in time, where we’ll meet you and get things started. From there, we’ll shuttle you over to the Homer airport where you’ll meet your pilot and bear guide. After a brief safety talk, we’ll board one of our Turbo Beavers or Cessna 206 wheeled bush planes for a scenic flight to Hallo Bay, flying along the Kenai Mountains, across the Barren Islands, and over the Shelikof Strait, past Mt. Douglas, and down the Katmai coast.
For the next 2-3 hours, we’ll explore beaches, sedge meadows, and small streams, observing bears in their natural habitat—digging clams, grazing or napping in the meadows, fishing or feasting on the occasional beached whale. All of this unfolds against the dramatic backdrop of Alaska’s Ring of Fire. Note: This trip is occasionally done via our Turbo Otter on floats pending tide schedule
