Getting There

Moose Pass is less than 100 miles south of Anchorage on the Kenai Peninsula and just 29 miles north of Seward and Kenai Fjords National Park.

The yurt is located on Grant Lake, just over 2 miles from the center of Moose Pass. Winter access to the yurt requires crossing Trail Lake while it is frozen, and it is your responsibility to assess the safety of the ice prior to crossing.

This is a self-supported adventure; previous backcountry winter travel experience is required. Winter conditions are variable, and we are unable to guarantee ice conditions. Using the railroad bridge to cross Trail Lake is not allowed.

About Our Yurt "The Nellie"

This cozy little hideaway is named after none other than Alaska Nellie, a legendary pioneer who once called this rugged wilderness home. Nellie was a true trailblazer, and we hope that as you settle in at this yurt, you will feel just as welcome as Nellie's guests did all those years ago and maybe even find a little bit of inspiration from the amazing pioneer herself.

With accommodations for up to 5 people, "The Nellie" features bunks with one double bed and three twin beds, as well as plenty of shelving and hooks to hang up your gear. There's a handmade spruce table in the center, and you might find a few board games and a deck of cards for some old-fashioned fun during your stay.
