Kenai River Sockeye fishing begins in mid June with Russian River bound fish and this run is best between June 10 and June 25. The late run of Kenai River sockeye is one of the largest returns in the state and this run begins arriving in early July with the peak of the return occurring from July 15 - August 15. Late Run Kenai River Sockeye are the largest in all of Alaska averaging 8-12 lbs. The limit before June 20 is three fish per person, per day and from June 20 through August 15, the limit is six fish, per person, per day.
