Half Day Kasilof River King Salmon Fishing
All ages welcome • 5 Hours • May/June
About
The early run Kasilof River King Salmon fishery is the only viable king salmon fishery available on the Kenai Peninsula for the foreseeable future. This is a hatchery origin stock that return to a tributary of the Kasilof names Crooked Creek. Crooked Creek is located just above tidal reach and less than 10 miles from salt water. This run begins in May and peaks sometime in late May into the first couple weeks of June. Fish average between 12-20 lbs. and the limit for hatchery fish is 2 per day, per person. Hatchery fish are distinguished by a clipped adipose fin which occurs prior to being released as smolts. There are naturally produced (un-clipped) Crooked Creek kings also present and those are required to be released. This is a drift boat only fishery and a very scenic and peaceful float. The fish are very fresh and fight hard in the low water conditions of May and June.
