After a long snowy winter, it is time to break out those running shoes and check the pressure on your bike wheels! Lifetime Adventures is proud to be bringing back the Eklutna Challenge Race this year. Join us at 10am on September 21, 2024 for some heart pumping fun!

The last day of early registration is September 14th. Registration after that date is $55. Registration also available day of from 8am-9:30am at Eklutna Lake. Bib pickup information is contained in your confirmation email.

All proceeds benefit the Eagle River Nature Center and Alaska Trails.

The Route:

Beginning at the Eklutna Lake overflow parking lot, the 3 mile run will first take you along Eklutna Lake road to the Eydlu Bena trail system, which parallels Eklutna Lake. The trail loops back and ends at the Lifetime Adventures building, where you will hop on your bike and ride 7.5 miles down the Eklutna Lakeside trail.

Upon reaching the turnaround point where staff will be located, you will loop back and utilize the ATV road in conjunction with the lakeside trail. Blaze back to the Lifetime Adventure building and successfully complete the Eklutna Challenge!

Information

In the photos section you can find route images for both the run and bike portions. This race will be 3 miles of running and 15 miles of biking. Please note the following: - This event is limited to 200 people, so make sure you sign up early! - Run will start in the Eklutna Lake overflow parking lot. - You will need to stage your bike at the Lifetime Adventures building, which is where the transition point is located. - Bikes are not available to rent for this race, so make sure you bring your own. - Bike helmets must be worn during the race. - Anyone leaving the transition area without a helmet buckled will be disqualified. - Participants under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult. - Bike stands are not provided. - There are no water stations on the course, but water will be provided in the transition area. Please bring water with you. - This is a wilderness race. The course may contain sticks, rocks, loose gravel, stumps, racers, and other trail users. Please exercise caution. Emergency personnel will be available. Race and personnel will not be responsible for any injuries incurred in race. - Race parking will be provided in designated areas only, and is included as part of your registration fee. Participants are asked to not park in the main public parking area. If you do, you will need to pay your own parking or Alaska State Parks may ticket you. We encourage you to carpool!

We understand that at the end of April there may still be some snowy areas of trail. We will be providing trail updates the weeks leading up to the race. Think of the snow as an extra fun element!

Cancellation

All sales are final. Any cancellations will be donated to the Eagle River Nature Center or Alaska Trails as a charitable contribution.
