Scenic Wildlife & Historic Waterfront Tour
Tours starting June 2026! Experience the breathtaking beauty of Kodiak Island • Everyday • 2 hours
About
Experience the breathtaking beauty of Kodiak Island aboard our spacious 149-passenger catamaran, Ocean Discovery. This 2 to 2.5-hour tour combines stunning wildlife viewing with a deep dive into Kodiak's rich and layered history.
Your adventure begins before you even step aboard the vessel. Guests will enjoy approximately a 0.5-mile walk from the cruise ship dock or Kodiak City Harbor along Shelikof Street, locally known as “Cannery Row.” Along the way, take in scenic harbor views, commercial fishing boats, working canneries, and the authentic waterfront atmosphere that makes Kodiak one of Alaska’s most unique fishing communities. As you approach the Ocean Discovery, look for our flags and check-in tent while keeping an eye out for bald eagles overhead and even sea lions gathering near the harbor and fishing boats.
As we cruise along Kodiak's pristine coastline, you'll encounter Alaska's incredible marine wildlife in their natural habitat—including puffins, sea otters, sea lions, seals, bald eagles, and more. While whales frequent these waters and are often spotted, wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed as we observe animals in their natural environment.
But this tour is about more than just wildlife. Our knowledgeable crew will share the fascinating stories of Kodiak's Native Alutiiq culture, spanning thousands of years of tradition and connection to these waters. Discover how Russian exploration and settlement shaped the island's identity, learn about Kodiak's pivotal role in military history, and hear tales from the legendary fishing industry that built this community. From ancient village sites to historic waterfront landmarks, you'll gain a true appreciation for what makes Kodiak Alaska's Emerald Isle.
Relax in comfort on our stable catamaran platform, perfect for photography, wildlife watching, and soaking in the stories that bring this remarkable place to life.
