HIGHLIGHTS
STARTING POINT: Anchorage, Alaska is the starting/finishing place for this trip. Your KBA Guides will pick you up in Anchorage on the morning of Day 1 to begin your epic Alaska Backcountry Skiing and Splitboarding Adventure! Your homebase for the week will be deep in the mountains in a perfect position for daily shredding missions. From base camp, we’ll skin-up and ski/ride down new terrain each day.
GETTING TO THE MOUNTAINS: For this mountain base camp trip, we utilize ski planes to ensure access to the mountains is safe and efficient. Once in the mountains, we skin-up and ski/ride down all day, returning to base camp for a hearty mountain dinner, and some well-earned Zzzzzzz’s…
THE MOUNTAINS: The Kenai Peninsula is a perfect access point for premier Alaska backcountry skiing and splitboarding. On one side we have the Kenai Mountains which borders the Harding Icefield, and on the other side of Cook Inlet we have the Alaska Range. We’re adjacent to millions of acres comprised of protected wilderness areas with terrain hardly anyone has shredded. The mountain base camp trip will take place in either the Kenai Mountains, or the Alaska Range; dependent on current conditions.
It is a heavily glaciated landscape containing several massive glaciers and ice fields. This terrain is uniquely suited to learning backcountry skills, and the skiing and splitboarding here is truly spectacular!
