About

In partnership with the Alaska Railroad, our Spencer Glacier kayaking tour explores Spencer Lake and the edge of the glacier. This is an amazing Glacier location to experience and learn about blue ice, up close and personal, on this glacier kayaking tour! This half-day tour is an excellent way to experience the wilderness away from the crowds.

Getting to the Glacier

The Spencer Whistle Stop and Glacier are located just South of Portage Valley and the Turnagain Arm in the Kenai Mountains and the Chugach National Forest. It is entirely off the road system, so we ride the scenic Alaska Railroad from Anchorage or Girdwood with breathtaking views of glaciers and towering alpine peaks. This Anchorage kayaking trip is one of the best ways to see a glacier up close.

Touch an Iceberg On This Glacier Kayaking Tour

WEATHER CONDITIONS

n

Trips operate in most weather conditions – travel insurance is recommended. Moderate to strong breezes (Beaufort Scale Force 3 or higher) will prevent us from safely operating the kayaking portion of the trip. If weather conditions are unsafe for kayaking, we'll enjoy a walk along the shore of Spencer Lake, taking in views of the glacial valley, icebergs, and Spencer Glacier. Please note that there will be no refunds in the event of an alternate activity.
