While the shorter trip is great in itself, this 5 hr Extended wildlife boat tour allows us to explore deeper into the wilderness around Sitka that hardly anyone even knows exists! The extra time allows us to slow down the pace when we get on hot action and it also gives us a cushion if there is a notable species playing hard to get that particular day.

We usually see an extra species or two on a 5 hr Extended Tour that we'd have missed on my shorter tour. Whether the extra time allows us to take a longer (but calmer) route to make St. Lazaria Island a reality that day or the chance to see salmon jumping up a waterfall or maybe the extra time gets us to a sea lion rookery.
