About

This is a shared trip, approximately 9 to 10 hours in length. GAF Retained Halibut rules apply to GAF Charters on Tuesday and Wednesdays (Days typically closed to Halibut Retention) and this opportunity is NOT offered by most charters in Homer. Your GAF-landed Halibut can be any size. GAF Retained Halibut are charged to the angler on a per fish basis for all GAF defined Halibut retained. The GAF permit cost per Halibut Retained under GAF rules in 2025 was $127 PER FISH and is paid to the Capt. We also target other fish as time, weather and conditions permit!

Highlights

Experience Alaska with the crew of Fish The 49th! Catch fish of your lifetime and make memories aboard the Sea-Gar, a 2025 30’ Raider. Daily trips leaving Homer Harbor in Homer, Alaska can be tailored to your experience and wishes. Full-day, half-day, Halibut only, multi-species- we can accommodate it all!

Capt Steve and the crew have the experience and knowledge, depending on season and regulations to help you hook Halibut, Chinook Salmon, Yellow-Eye Rockfish, Lingcod, Pacific Cod, Black Rockfish, Sockeye Salmon- and more! We utilize “mooching” a Puget-Sound technique for catching salmon. We strive for a fun, hands-on experience and mooching provides that alternative to trolling for salmon.

Fish like a pro and travel in comfort aboard the Sea-Gar. She is equipped with comfortable seating for your party (up to 6), heated cabin, private bathroom, and most importantly an oversized back deck for multiple anglers to fish. In addition, we have all the USCG required safety equipment as well as a state of the art marine AED for your ultimate health and security on the water.

Sea-Gar is fully equipped with rods, reels, and tackle. We make and recycle our bait plastics to not only create custom jigs and lures but contribute to conservation efforts to keep Cook Inlet great for years to come.

Prior to leaving port, please make sure everyone in the fishing party has a valid AK Fishing License (available online).Halibut Stamps are now required as of 2026 and will be available on board for an additional cost. Warm clothes (layers are your friend), sunglasses, closed toe waterproof shoes, rain gear, and sunscreen are a part of your recipe for success.

Water, drinks, and snacks are provided. Please bring lunches and any other beverages you may want. No glass, please. Alcohol for those of drinking age is allowed and to be consumed in moderation. We are able to assist with any food needs with advance planning for an additional charge.

Please note that the first mate of the Sea-Gar will be your ultimate fishing concierge. They will guide you, help you get on fish, assist with tackle, and maybe share a great fish story or two. Your tip of 20% is customary- but well appreciated by our mate.
