What to bring
Essential: • Warm layers (hat, gloves, insulated jacket, winter pants, warm boots) • Extra hand/toe warmers (available locally) If Bringing Your Own Camera: • Sturdy tripod (not a cheap plastic one—it will shake in the wind) • Extra batteries (cold drains them fast) • Headlamp with red light mode (preserves night vision)
Winter Clothing Note:
Alaska cold is different. If visiting Nov-March, we recommend renting proper winter gear locally. A quick Google search for "Fairbanks winter gear rental" will show options. Don't have a camera? Rent one from us ($80, includes tripod + instruction) or use your phone—modern smartphones capture aurora surprisingly well with guidance.
