About

Juneau lies in the beautiful Tongass National Forest, the largest temperate rainforest in the world, and we understand that our guests from down south may not want to let a little rain get in the way of their tour... but we also know they don't want to be standing in the rain either.

Introducing our Peek at the Glacier Tour. This tour offers two hours on the water in our covered and heated boats in search of whales before heading to the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area, and stepping off the bus for only 15 minutes -- just enough time to get out and snap a quick picture, but not enough time to get washed out by the rain. This tour is ideal for people who want to see the glacier, but don't want to risk getting caught in the rain, folks who don't want to walk too far, or guests who don't want to sacrifice too much of their time downtown for a glimpse of our magnificent drive-up glacier.

On this tour, you will take one of our comfortable tour buses from downtown Juneau on a 30-minute, narrated tour through Juneau and the Mendenhall Valley to Auke Bay. In Auke Bay you will board one of our comfortable boats and head out on a 2-hour whale watching experience. Upon returning to the harbor you will be escorted back to the bus for a quick trip inland to Mendenhall Glacier. You will have approximately 15 minutes to explore the area around the magnificent glacier. Be sure to keep an eye out for abundant wildlife such as black bears, bald eagles and mountain goats!
