Winter Kings and Tanner Crab

Winter Kings are coming and going in and out of Kachemak Bay Year-round, they are on their northern migratory route coming up from the Pacific Northwest, Canada and SE Alaska. We started targeting these fish over 30 years ago, they average 8-12 lbs. and can be smaller and can be much bigger in the 20’s and 30’s and even in the 40’s the limit is 2 per person no size limit. We use down riggers to troll our baits and lures at certain depths. We also offer crabbing; we can drop a 4’x4’ Tanner Crab pot in 300’ to 500’ of water on the way out to the fishing grounds and then pick it up on are way home. The limit is 3 per person and they must be at least 4 ¼” across the back and you will need to pick up a Lower cook inlet tanner crab permit at Alaska department of fish and game online only.
