Explore Haines by Moped!
These mini-motorcycles are—to our knowledge—the most affordable form of vehicle transportation in Haines. They're more adventurous than a car and much faster than a bicycle, making them a fun and efficient way to explore.
Cruising speeds range from 25 to 40 mph, and many past renters have managed to explore all 100 miles of our scenic road system in a single day.
⛽ Fuel Reminder: Please return your moped with a full tank, or opt for prepaid fuel for $15.99. (Fuel tanks hold approximately 2.5 gallons, with local prices ranging from $4.50 to $7.00 per gallon.)

Highlights
🐻 Chilkoot River
Follow Lutak Road east to this iconic valley, where you’ll often see bears, eagles, and wild salmon runs (July-September). Take in the views at Chilkoot River, and plan enough time to hang out. Great for photography and wildlife watching!
🏞️ Haines Highway Scenic Byway
Head north on this internationally recognized scenic route toward Canada as it follows the Chilkat River from the ocean to its alpine tributaries. Pull off for glacier views, alpine landscapes, and cultural landmarks. Keep an eye out for moose and bald eagles while in the only bald eagle preserve in the world.
🌲 Chilkat State Park
Ride south to Mud Bay Road and explore this secluded gem. Once there, enjoy breathtaking views of Rainbow and Davidson Glaciers, peaceful beaches, and forested trails. This is a quiet spot for hiking, tidepooling, or relaxing by the water.

In order of importance: - Closed-toe shoes are required for protection. - Clothes for Alaska's Changing Weather.
