About
Escape the downtown crowds and enjoy an exclusive, evening-only wildlife and cultural experience at the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary. Our private property overlooks a rain-fed creek that sees the spawning of thousands of Pacific salmon every year, regularly attracting some of Alaska’s famous wild predators, including black bears, bald eagles, and harbor seals. You can also deepen your knowledge of Alaska's culture by exploring our totem park, featuring 17 totem poles carved by members of the Tsimshian tribe of Alaska, or perusing the historic Herring Bay Lumber Mill.
The tour begins with a scenic 8-mile coastal drive to our site. Once you arrive, you will be provided with an Alaska-made beer, cider, or cocktail (non-alcoholic alternatives also available), with additional drinks and snacks available for purchase. Sip while you wander the sawmill and totem park, then follow your guide to a private, elevated boardwalk to look for the wildlife that frequents the area. Snap some pictures, make memories, and grab a unique souvenir from our gift shop before your ride back to town! NOTE: Wildlife sightings not guaranteed.
