About
While the main part of the aurora season is behind us, it is still possible to see the northern lights in the Anchorage area as we fully head into spring. Nights are getting shorter as days get longer, but we still have astronomical twilight, which allows for aurora viewing. That is why we created this Anchorage northern lights tour – to take advantage of the darkness we still have before the midnight sun sets in.
Like all of our northern lights tours, our goal is to help you enjoy the magic and mystery of the aurora borealis. This spring tour is a great option for those who wish to photograph the aurora or simply enjoy viewing it before summer takes hold. This tour only runs when the forecast indicates that there is a good chance of seeing the aurora borealis with the naked eye, applying the criteria we review (see below). We pick you up at your Anchorage hotel accommodations and take you on an adventure to witness the magical lights rippling over mountain peaks and dancing across dark waters. Your guide will help you understand the science of the northern lights and provide photographic coaching and aurora portraits for those who desire them. Cameras are available for rent, and tripods are complimentary. And if all you have is a smart phone, still join us! Most of our guests are just like you.
