About
Hop aboard the Alaska Railroad’s Glacier Discovery Train and travel from Anchorage south along the scenic Turnagain Arm. Disembark the train and join us for a guided tour of the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. After visiting AWCC, we will take you back to Portage train station for a scenic train trip to Grandview- the most scenic section of the AK Railroad, where you can go on a short hike led by a USFS Ranger at Grandview Whistle Stop.
Children- This trip is suitable for all ages. If you have young children, please let us know so we can provide car seats.

- Train Tickets are included in the tour cost. They will be booked and waiting for you when you arrive at the train station.
What to bring
Bring warm clothes and layers, extra socks, a hat, and gloves. These are more important in August and September, but they are nice to have in June and July with AK’s unpredictable weather. Please also be prepared with rain gear if needed. Since you will be walking around the Conservation Center, comfortable shoes are also preferred.
