6-10 hours • All ages

About

This private day tour begins with a pickup from your Anchorage hotel or lodging with an experienced local guide in a comfortable passenger van. Travel along one of Alaska’s most scenic routes via the Seward Highway and Turnagain Arm, with sightseeing and photo stops that may include Potter Marsh Bird Sanctuary, Beluga Point, and Bird Point.

Upon arrival in Portage Valley, you’ll explore iconic glacier viewpoints including Explorer Glacier, Middle Glacier, and Byron Glacier. Guests may also choose to include short walks or light hikes, depending on trail conditions and group preference.

You will then board the M/V Ptarmigan for a one-hour glacier cruise on Portage Lake, offering incredible views of surrounding glaciers and dramatic alpine landscapes, with Portage Glacier as the main highlight. Please note: while transportation and guiding are private, the glacier cruise portion is a shared vessel experience and may include other guests.

After the cruise, your group may opt for an optional sit-down lunch stop at a local restaurant or café before continuing to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. There, you’ll explore the 200-acre facility and view Alaska’s iconic land mammals in spacious, natural habitats.

Additional customization options may include time to explore the town of Girdwood or an optional ride on the Alyeska Aerial Tram for panoramic views of Turnagain Arm (tram tickets not included). The itinerary and pacing can be adjusted throughout the day to fit your group’s interests before returning to Anchorage.
