(Shared) Chugach State Park Backcountry Tour - Morning

Step into the wild beauty of Alaska’s Chugach State Park, just minutes from Anchorage. This guided backcountry tour takes you along winding rainforest trails where the pace is relaxed and the focus is on nature. Along the way, enjoy frequent photo stops and learn about the northernmost temperate rainforest, home to towering spruce, alpine meadows, and diverse wildlife.

We’ll help you practice wildlife spotting techniques so you can better see moose, eagles, Dall sheep, goats, and even bears on the ridgelines. Depending on the season, you may also get a close-up view of salmon spawning in the river. These skills aren’t just for Alaska — you can use them in other state and national parks, or even close to home.

Midway through, take a short hike to a glacier-fed waterfall for breathtaking views and photos of Turnagain Arm backed by snow-capped peaks.
