About

Hatchers Pass Independence Mine - Half Day Guided

Duration

4.5 hours

Details

Your transportation and local guide will pick you up and take you on a scenic drive to the beautiful Hatchers Pass, a mountain pass through the southwest part of the Talkeetna Mountains. Named after Robert Hatcher, a prospector and miner, you will get the opportunity to explore Independence Mine, a huge abandoned Gold Mine that sits atop Hatchers Pass. Learn about the History of the mine and even get the chance to try your hand in gold panning in the small streams that surround the mine. Choose hiking the 1.6 mile Gold Cord Lake trail or just enjoy roaming the abandoned mining buildings and take in the stellar view from the high alpine pass.
