Spenard Food & True Crime Walking Tour
3.5 Hours • 21 & Older
About
We will walk the notorious Spenard neighborhood of Anchorage eating good food, having strong drinks, and learning the true crime history of the 1970’s Anchorage underground. If you're lucky, and on your worst behavior, we will end our night at one of the most famous bars in Alaskan history for a drink. Our goal is to maintain an accurate retailing of historical events in a tasteful and intriguing manner.
Work hard, play hard wasn’t a saying, it was a lifestyle. Brothels, bars, strip clubs, and gambling joints were on every corner. Mobsters, ladies of the night, bikers, and con-artists all making a buck. Oh, and did we mention serial killers?
What this tour is not:
This is not a tour that glorifies true crime events. It is not a horror story meant to create fear and shock. This is a historical recounting of some of the most interesting times in Anchorage’s dirty history that was a direct result of a huge influx of money from the oil pipeline being built. A whole lot of debauchery is its legacy.
