Targeted Salmon Species
The annual return of salmon the Kenai River is remarkable predictable. Our salmon fishing calendar is flexible to give you the best shot at the best fishing opportunities but generally looks like the following:
May 16 - June 30: King Salmon July 1 - July 31: King & Sockeye Salmon Combo August 1 - August 10: Sockeye Salmon Aug 11 - Aug 20: Sockeye & Silver Salmon Combo Aug 21 - Sept 30: Silver Salmon

Our full-day fishing trips meet at 6:30AM or 12:30PM depending upon which trip you have selected
Meeting Location
We will meet at the Pillars Boat launch located about 1/2 way between the towns of Kenai and Soldotna
From the town of Soldotna take the Kenai Spur Highway towards the town of Kenai. Turn left on Silver Salmon Drive. After parking, please make sure to pay the daily parking fee and then walk down to the boat launch and docks where you'll find your boat and guide waiting for you.
About Our Boats, Guides, and equipment
Alaska Boat and Guide Service uses customized open bow boats modified specifically for fishing the Kenai River. Our experienced guides have been fishing the waters of the Kenai Peninsula for years and we utilize top of the line Okuma rods and reels.
What Is Included:
• River boat and experienced captain • Rods and reels • Chest waders and boots • All flies, tackle, and bait • Filleting of your catch
What Is Not Included & What To bring
• Alaska sport fishing licenses are required for anyone 16 years and older. Please bring a king stamp if you are on a trip that includes salmon. • BRING YOUR FISHING LICENSE! • Weather specific clothing - Layered clothing with a water-proof shell. Rain gear, hats and gloves, sunscreen should all be considered depending upon the time of year and the forecast for the day. • Food, drinks, snacks, and water. Alcoholic beverages are allowed but please no hard alcohol or glass • Phones and cameras • Consider items such as sunscreen, bug repellent, polarized sun glasses. • Gratuities
About Gratuities
First an foremost, any gratuity at all is incredibly appreciated but is never required. You will receive our 100% effort every time, with or without a gratuity.
Like most service industry jobs, a 15%-25% gratuity is very much appreciated. The job your guides do for you begins several hours before you arrive and doesn’t end for several hours after you’ve disembarked. It involves making sure the boat is in perfect and clean condition when you arrive. Taking amazing care of you while you’re on the boat, filleting your catch, teaching about our fisheries, and making sure all the fishing equipment is in perfect order every single day after every single trip. After the trip, a thorough cleaning of the boat, rinse down and inspection of equipment, replacing any lost or broken tackle or gear, regulatory book keeping and more keeps them occupied long after your trip is over.
